The Love of Sassy Lil Sketches...

So all my scrappy friends know I love a good layout sketch. It gets my creative energy moving. Imagine my surprise to receive an email from Sassy Lil Sketches that I won their E-Book of sketches! I can't wait to cut up paper preserve memories using their sketches.

Lasting Memories Layout Challenges: August DT Call

I found Lasting Memories Challenge Blog while weathering Hurricane Irene. I was super excited to find a challenge blog for layouts only!!! No Cards! I really do not like to make cards as the area for me to create is sooo limited! So then I saw they had a DT Call & since I love layout challenges; I completed all 4.

Challenge 50: Sketch w/ a Twist (buttons).Used: Little Yellow Bicyle "Elizabeth Park" pattern paper and chipboard stickers.                                                                                     

Challenge 51: Try Something New. (Misting) Used: Maya Road Antique Silver Mist, Tim Holtz Butterfly Mask & Bo Bunny "Gabrelle" pattern paper, Kraft paper, American Craft Thickers & chipboard embellishments. Pictured: Daughter Kassie at age 2.

Challenge 52: What's your Secret? (Hidden Journaling under photo). Used: Bella Blvd "Estate Sale" pattern paper & chipboard embellishments. Pictured: My daughter Kassie on her 1st day of 2nd Grade.

August Sketches in Thyme Challenges

Since Hurricane Irene rolled thru last weekend, I was able to work on a few challenges.
I came upon Sketches in Thyme blog.  Here are the 2 challenges that I completed for August.

Sketch 53: Used Bazzill Dot Cardstock, Queen & Company pattern paper, K& Company Charmers, K&Company pillow stickers, K&Company Sticker Medley, Sandlylion Essentials embellishment, Recollection Bling, Deja View Mini Banner & Uni ball white pen. Pictured: Myself & Queen Kat.

Sketch 54: Used Bo Bunny Barefoot & Bliss pattern paper & chipboard embellishments. Pictured: My daughter Kassie & her Bratz doll.





We SURVIVED...

Hurricane IRENE!  I am thankful that we did not lose power or have damage to our home. We did experience heavy rain, severe wind & lots of broken tree branches. Our family & friends are still with out power & are struggling to recover from the floods. Hopefully, power will be restored to all (including the school systems, grocery stores & gas stations) very soon.
I was able to complete 20 layouts between Friday & Sunday. I will begin posting them this week.

I'll leave you with one of trees that did not get damaged during "IRENE".

I'm not really a "double page" layout girl...but I gave it a try. I did rotate the sketch to fit the pictures I took from my son's 11th Birthday Celebration. Here is my attempt at Photo merging.

A day to REMEMBER...

Yesterday, Tuesday August 23, 2011 was a day of "First's"....

1.  First Day of School for our County.
2.  First time Kyle & Kassie would not attend the same school.
3.  First time Kyle & Kassie would not ride the same bus together.
4.  Kassie's first day of 2nd Grade.
5.  Kyle's first day of 6th Grade.
6.  FIRST TIME we have EVER experienced a EARTHQUAKE!! 6.1

I am thankful that my family & friends are okay. The damage we experienced was minor; but it is something I'll never forget.
